Publications

Below are 2 publications previously released by the America's Career Resource Network in order for counselors and administrators to help students with their post-high school choices:

• After Graduation:  Presents a wide array of options for students after they graduate from high school, and gives information on how to prepare for the various options.

• Where the Jobs Are:  Aimed at students, this paper shows how to use labor force and occupational data to plan for one’s future.

The Georgia Department of Education created the following brochure based on information from the Texas CDR brochure and the Iowa Center:

• Are you a Doer, Thinker, Creator, Helper, Organizer, or Persuader?:  Interests are a way of organizing information about people and jobs. These six categories describe people through their interests. Using interests that describe you best, you can search for occupations that match these types.

Other helpful publications include:

It’s Time To Tell the Kids:  If You Don’t Do Well in High School, You Won’t Do Well in College (or on the Job) (Spring 2004) by James E. Rosenbaum, published in American Educator.  This publication focus on misconceptions that students, parents, and some educators have about “going to college.”

American Red Cross Disaster Services Publications:  Contains materials about natural hazards that are specifically designed to be used by teachers and instructors for classroom/school use.  Also includes a list of materials to be used by adults for children.
