Labor Market Information

Introduction to Labor Market Information
Accurate and up-to-date market information is critical to the career decision-making process. Students can use this type of information to answer the question, "Where Am I Going?” Students should be able to locate, use, and analyze career-related materials. They should be given the opportunities to gather information in a systematic and developmental program. Occupational information is vital to the student who is seeking information on employment trends, qualifications of employment, educational level needed to be competitive, salary, growth, and related occupations. Labor market information can be communicated in several different ways:
  • Bulletin boards
  • Newsletters for teachers-as-advisors
  • Flyers for instructors, advisors, counselors
  • Classroom guidance or teacher-as-advisor activity
  • Guest speakers
  • Teacher Resource for LMI
A unique strategy for communicating LMI to students via instructors in the classroom.
